Il y a environ un an, quand j'ai découvert ce groupe, et spécialement Around the Bend, j'écoutais cette chanson en boucle. L'album Fruit a surfacé sur le net en février 2009, alors que la sortie officielle était en septembre! Il est présenté comme "la meilleure exportation danoise depuis le bacon"...
On peut dire que c'est un disque avec une âme, un disque sincère. Mais cela ne signifie pas que les chansons sont ennuyeuses. Loin de là. Cela va de la mélodie relaxante (Lady Jesus) à la chanson addictive (Push the Enveloppe), le tout dans une atmosphère vintage 60's vraiment sympa. Les instruments sont aussi originaux, puisque l'on peut entendre des trompettes ou encore des sons de verre inqualifiables.
Hero serait le seul point noir de l'album, étant donné que c'est honnêtement une chanson soporifique. Comme dit ci-dessus, l'album était disponible sur internet depuis un moment. Par conséquent le disque commercialisé contient en plus deux chansons: Inner City Blues, une sorte de ballade "Gossipesque"; et Attack of the Ghost Riders, une track surprenante, dans laquelle ils ont troqué leur son 60's avec quelque chose de plus expérimental.
Au final, Fruit s'avère être un album intemporel. On est entraîné dans l'univers psychédélique de ce groupe danois. Et l'on ne peut qu'être impatient de voir ce qu'ils feront par la suite.
About one year ago, as I found out this band, and especially their song Around the Bend, I got this track stuck on repeat. The full length record Fruit leaked to the web in February 2009, whereas the proper release was in September! The disc is portrayed as "the best Danish export since bacon"...We can say that it's a record with a soul, a genuine record. However it doesn't mean its songs are boring. Not at all. They are chill-out songs (Lady Jesus) to catchy tunes (Push the Enveloppe) in a really nice 60's vintage atmosphere. The instruments are also original, since we can hear trumpet or some unspeakable glass noises.
Hero would be the only background of the album, because it's a rather boring song. As said before, the album leaked ages before the release. Then the retail album contains two extra tracks: Inner City Blues, a "Gossipesque" kind of ballad; and Attack of the Ghost Riders, a surprising track, in which they swap their 60's sound with something experimental.
To conclude, Fruit turns out to be a timeless album. We are drawn into the psychedelic world of this group. And we are looking forward to seeing what they'll do in the the future.
